Please tell me...

.
How is it anyone's damn business - other than the people directly involved - if gays get married?

Seriously who the hell am I or anyone else to tell them they're not allowed to marry?

People are so damn judgmental.

Cuz intolerant people are usually busybodies also and they want everyone to be as narrow minded as they are. Live and let live, I say.

What kills me is that most of those people use the Bible as a source of their disdain and these same people eat pork. I think the part in the old testament that says not to eat pork is just a few pages from the "don't lie down with" section. So they get all adamant about the one part and conveniently don't notice the other? Oh well, trying to judge modern society by a set of laws written for the Jewish people thousands of years ago is just silly.

F**king A*rse! I hate this, sooo much. If two people want to dedicate their lives to each other it's marraige, it should be legally recognised as such no matter what sex the couple. Makes me so angry.

I'm told that it's all about fear. What they're afraid of, I don't know.

That vote took a big chunk out of my, already too small for comfort, faith in humanity. I just know that if the whole world got to vote the ban bunch would be much closer to 80%.

Because every time two gays get married, one heterosexual marriage somewhere on the planet ends in divorce... see?

And while we're on the subject, a word about mashed potatoes - the killer vegetable! Ninety-nine percent of convicted murderers have eaten mashed potatoes at some point in their lives. The anti-potato league will have a ballot initiative in Idaho by the next election.

As the adage goes: "As long as they don't frighten the horses, I don't care what people do."

Ian -- So, no re-enactment of Equus with real horses, eh?

i have no good answer for this that would make any sense because non of this makes sense. people are intolerant, that's all there is to it.

Very bizarre. The same people who are smart enough to overwhelmingly vote in Obabama are still getting their knickers in a twist over something that has nothing whatsoever to do with them.

It frankly astounds me how much venom and energy people put into this issue. I think some people genuinely feel that it is their job to stop people from doing anything they judge to be a sin (hence, the goombahs who have kept my county dry all these years). But it's illogical - seems like allowing gay marriage would be a promotion of the "family values" the right gets so worked up about. Why wouldn't you want as many people in stable, committed relationships as possible?

Exactly, Jazz. I stood on a street corner for 2 full days last weekend, making that exact point with my "Live and Let Live" and "Straight Not Narrow" signs. My neighbors, with their "Yes on 8" signs, are gloaty right now.

But this too shall pass. The last chapter on this issue has not been written. Not by a long shot.
