I can't help comparing this to my MacBook Pro...

OMG, that is SO funny. What an albatros. Are we dating ourselves. Now my portable Netbook weighs 3 lbs.

I'm feeling the same lust for the new MBPs too. Mine is only 4 years old and yet... I covet.

My Dad, in a misguided effort to give me some sort of career path other than being a heavy metal musician or a drug dealer, once bought me an entire computer setup back in the early 80's. Not far off from what's pictured. I could barely make head nor tails of it, although I did honestly give it a try for a few weeks - reading all of the manuals, attempting to program some simple things via the instructions given. It ended up becoming a great place to put books on top of, but not much else.

Bet this computer could keep your whole house warm in the winter.

I wonder what wonderful computers there will be in 30 years' time?

I remember buying my first computer in 1980. It was a TI-99/4a and I remember buying it because it had 16K of memory. I even programmed it to do my my marks using BASIC... Then a few years later, I bought my first Mac, it had 512K of memory. What a step up.

The tiny screen is especially funny. My ex had a Kaypro that was in sort of a suitcase configuration. And now we get internet on our phones!

You totally miss 1977.

'Cause STAR WARS came out that year, too.

Is that the screen? I don't even get it. It looks like a giant calculator.
