I love the ads/links that pop up in the sidebar of gmail, and which are apparently geared to what you are talking about.
I've been having a gmail exchange with a friend today and I just noticed the ad subjects:
- Luxury beach rentals
- Stephen Harper, a good PM? 1 minute poll
- Chic Mommy blog
- Be the woman men love
Beach rentals, I understand, we did talk beach.
The others, however are much more mysterious. I think the word politics did slip into the email exchange, but how they got mommy blogging and being the woman men love out of this defeats my imaginative powers.
Sometimes I wonder about Google...

I suspect Google of having the superpower of reading the minds of the people you will be talking to NEXT WEEK...mark my words, next week you'll be chatting about how silly and misogynistic women's magazines are. yeah. thats it...either that, or its some sort of evil subliminal advertizing.
how do you think i felt when i got the email about being the woman men love?
You may think you're a bit of a Luddite, friend, but your last two posts have opened whole new worlds for me.
You get pop-ups on your e-mail? I think that would make me crazy. Er, crazier.
Lil sister, if you're using Firefox there's a little add-on that prevents ads in gmail, so you'll never know if you are a woamn who please men or if Stephen is a good PM...;o) It also means that big brother google is looking over your shoulder as you type. ;o)
Rachel - You're probably right you know... eek.
Fuball - Ya know, I don't want to touch that one with a 10 foot pole.
Joce - Imagine what would happen if I really got into this stuff and found out what hexidecimal means.
Geewits - not pop-ups per se, actually it's ads that show up on a sidebar of the email. I rarely notice it. Not crazy making.
BB - Meh, if Big Brother Google is looking over my shoulder as I type, he definitely needs some sort of a life cause my emails are boring-ass shit. Besides, I'm used to Big Brothers, eh?
I wonder about a lot of things too :) but I also have Firefox so I don't get them or maybe I do but I don't pay attention, which would be more in line with me these days lol Although I wonder what type of pop ups would come out of some of my emails...
I thought you already were the woman that all men would love??? Smart, funny, winner of the "power of schmooze" award....you've got it all!
Ha, I never really paid much attention to those ads. Just checked my gmail to see what was there, and lo and behold, 1 for lightning rods (I was checking the internet for lightning photos...) and 1 for a hotel in McClean Virginia (email from a McLean) and 1 Australia (Aussie blog?) plus 1 for womensinfidelity (have no idea. really. truly). So, it really does read every thing you read. Then throws in a wench. er, wrench.
I worry about the data google must be collecting as it scans out emails. I was talking (emailing) to a new guy I'm seeing, and one of the pop-up links was "Reasons Not to Sleep with Him!"
