Sunday evening, 7:59

.
Sitting on the balcony. It's beautiful, the air redolent with the scent of lilac...

Coldplay somewhere in the background. Birds chirping (unfortunately, no swallows or nighthawks yet, but that should be coming soon).

The scent of the kafta burgers Mr. Jazz is cooking mingling with the lilac...

I could die this instant and I would die perfectly happy.

Ok, so it's way past 7:59 - since I couldn't download the pictures, my camera battery having chosen that particular moment to die on me - but the spirit is still there...

Post Secret, which I was looking at just before I started this post...

The chair where Mr. Jazz was sitting just before he went in to make dinner.
How great is it that he does the food stuff?

Looking towards the west.

My foot and its stubby middle toe. In a sandal. A. Sandal. On. The. Balcony... I'm wearing sandals!!! Outside!!!

The tree right in front of our balcony.

The street. Through the balcony bars.

The front of the bars. Who knew it looked so good. It should be on our side.
Who the hell can see this from the street side. We're three storeys up for God sake.

LOL! Nice balcony if you like your neighbors. I like that Mr Jazz is cooking. How stupid to put the pretty part away from you, 3 stories up. Ah...summer.

I YUUUUUUV these views and getting to see the world through your eyes. Seriously, YUUUUUUV it.

Plus, kafta burgers? New one one me. I'm making some version of that this week.

Can't stop me.

(unless you come to MN for that bottle of wine--and, hell, why stop at one, so we'll have at least two, at which point, who the hell cares about kafta burgers?)

I love these pictures. Thanks for sharing your corner of the earth. I am laughing at your second toe being so short. The old wives' tale in the south is that a long second toe means you have a domineering personality. I guess they were wrong. Or maybe it just means you are the cook of the house. That makes more sense.

Great photos and isn't it great when the sun shines and one can get into the summer mode? Here in Paris, the temperatures have sailed up to 28. BUT. Storms later today and the temperature is to drop by 14 degrees tomorrow. Still, I've enjoyed being in shorts and flip-flops and barbecuing.

Great photos. I miss Montreal's balconies.

I have just spent an hour looking at Google Maps because this post reminded of the balcony that was attached to my room when I lived in Montreal (up to 1972). As far as I can tell, the house is still there; I wonder if the balcony with its wooden frame has fallen down by now.
Lovely pictures these are -- thanks.

Life in the treetops... it's all we have ever wanted. Nicely accessorized with laptops and burgers, of course.

Gaelyn - Actually the neighbors spend way less time on their balconies than we do, so it works out fine... ;-)

Joce - Well, I'm going to Montana in October, is that next door to you - re the wine... And do make kafta burgers. Actually we buy the meat already spiced up from Adonis - the best middle eastern supermarket in Montreal. And I'll try to get my shit together and do a walk aound of the neighborhood soon.

Geewits - truth me told, there's absolutely nothing domineering about me. I tend to let people walk all over me - So the old wive's tale might be right.

Dumdad - Summer mode is indeed great. But it was shortlived, it's freezing here today. Ok, well freezing-ish - it's just 13 here right now...

Guillaume - I really think I'd miss our balcony big time if it was taken away, it's almost another room in the summer.

Pierre - I'd be willing to bet that the balcony has held up.

Jeaux - Yes, the laptops and burgers are definitely a necessity.

Mr. P does all of our cooking - good thing if we all want to live.

I just got caught up in reading post after post. You are hilarious.

I had a similar weekend, with dinner grilled and eaten on the balcony. Wonderful, isn't it?

I love the pix too; I always loved the idea of sitting out on a balcony like this one. Can I have it?
