More on the niqab:It seems that a memo was sent a few months ago to the Montreal police force, saying in essence that, if a criminal is arrested they are to be fingerprinted and photographed for identification purposes.
If this criminal happens to be a woman wearing a niqab (although I can't help but think the chances of that happening are remote), she is to be fingerprinted and requested to unveil for the mug shots.
If she refuses to unveil, she is to be photographed wearing the niqab.
Because that doesn't defeat the "identification" aspect of all this at all.
Words fail me. I mean, really, what the fuck?

Jazz, I work in the criminal law area, so I won't comment (I'm already in potential trouble for even having a blog). Wish I could, because I would have lots to say.

Well if they photograph her like that, they have an excuse to harass all of them because they all look like the criminal one. Huh?
WTF in aces!
WTF, indeed.
Christ the SPVM is such a joke sometimes. Can't believe they got rid of criminalised bikers AND the Italian maffia. it is true that there is a difference between the suits and the officers patrolling.
Now that's just silly.
Political corretness gone mad - I'd laugh if it weren't so deeply depressing.
The eyes are the window to the soul, so, um clearly they are very distinctive. Like windows are. You know, windows really stand out and look unique. Sometimes I point at a window and say, "I'd recognize that thing anywhere."
I understand that they have no problem with unveiling their faces for legal purposes. I believe that was brought forward during that debacle during the elections.
