A weekend at the cottage....

Before the storm:

During the storm:

After the storm - That railing, bottom left is waist high:

And this feeder? I'm 5'6", during the summer I have to stretch to reach it, now it's stuck in the snow:

And now, non depressing things I see on Saturday mornings at the cottage...

May I introduce Red:

And one of the Pine Grosbeaks, a male:

Little birdie tracks on the balcony:

And a few of the oodles of voracious redpolls at the feeders (you know, when they talk about eating like a bird? Them cute little birdies, they NEVER. STOP. EATING. EVER!

My favourite tea mug from 1001 Pots last summer:

And, of course my cast iron teapot - cause what's a Saturday without it? I love me my teapot.

Tomatos for breakfast - with kick ass olive oil from a bottle also purchased at 1001 pots:

And oranges and yummy grapefruit:

The fireplace (which isn't crooked in real life):

The fire:

A girl's got to get her sunshine somewhere - even if it's fake....

And back in town on Sunday afternoon, my "book room" - I really need to get these books into some semblance of order...

Love the pix; would love that snow if I could hole up in that cottage for 3 months, and never come out.

I want to live there!

Furiousball - I'm working on it, seriously.

Gnightgirl - How about we trade places? You can come spend your winters up here.

I envy you the snow and your shelf space. It's too bad you can't send the one you don't want my way.

Great pictures! I was kinda hoping to see a pic of another bird. What did you name him? I remember it was funny. I really love the fireplace and those tomatoes look scrumptious! And congrats on getting your pictures downloaded.

Ticknart - the shelf space is good, the snow not so much when you get it EVERY. DAMN. YEAR. If I could I'd send the snow.. but keep the shelves.

Geewits - His name is Bob. And he's on the matlepiece - which didn't make it into the pic. He's not a lonely bird, since he's up there with 3 pink flamingos, a painting and assorted other junk. I'll try to remember to take a pic of him for you this weekend.

holy fuck! are you telling me those snowdrifts are 6 and a half FEET high???

Good lord, woman, no wonder you loathe winter!

That is a hell of a lot of snow. But gorgeous photos! I want that teapot.

What a wonderful, toasty time. I love the photo of the falling snow! The fire looks so comfy.

Beautiful shot of the bird, and your tea mug - such an inviting piece of pottery.

You make me want to be there right up by that fireplace!

Wonderful photos!

The snow is gorgeous! You can't convince me otherwise.

I think your bookshelf might be a metaphor for your brain, honey.

You call that a book collection? HA! I laugh at the pitiful size of it!

And dang. That's a lot of snow, man.

Rachel - Some of them definitely. We haven't had 6 and a half feet of snow, but with the drifting you're not far off.

Citizen - Will I ruffle your feathers if I say: You can't have it!

Susan - Isn't it though... I fell in love with it when I saw it. You can fit your whole hand in the handle, the top of the handle has a little depression that fits my thumb perfectly... I hope the artist is back at 1001 pots this summer. I love "useful" art.

Dave - come on over!

Jocelyn - come and play in it, I'll loan you my snowshoes and wait for you with a bottle of wine. Oh, and the books? You might be right. Every time I try for order they get all screwed up again.

DD - I know, it's pathetic isn't it. If only I had more space. Now I should take pix of Mr. Jazz's CD collection.

I feel I have just visited you at the cottage and I had such a nice time. The snow is beautiful to look at and the little birds seem as though they would be sooooo cold.

Nope, not at all. Just my way of admiring it.

Those pics (regardless of the snow being so high) made it look really peaceful there. Almost nostalgic.
