You know you're getting old when...

.
You think it's utterly ridiculous that a demonstration against police brutality would be staged again this year. In Montreal of all place.

You think the police did well to make the 100 or so arrests of idiots who were throwing bricks and rocks at them, among other violence.

You think that violence to protest against violence just confirms that you are indeed the idiots you seem to be.

I fully understand the young hating authority, but c'mon, I can't help but think lots of people would love to have to deal with the level of police brutality we have here.

If Montreal cops are what you consider brutal, you should try a couple of other countries. Get over yourselves.

Yep, I'm getting old.

Well, I won't be protesting against police brutality any time soon. Police officers have a thankless job: they have to fight crime, yet they are often despised by the people they protect. It's thanks to the SPVM and the SQ Montreal did not become Santo Motardo, people should show some respect and be grateful for what they did.

I've just read your last post and can't believe how little we've learnt over the years and how intolerant we still are. I'm not gay but if my school did that I'd deliberately turn up with a male escort and encourage all my male friends to do likewise. That'd show 'em! Does intolerance get handed down from parent to child endlessly?

The same stupid pills must have been taken here by youth who protested the Olympics a few weeks ago by smashing store windows and destroying property. While wearing face masks so we could not see who they were.

When I heard about that demonstration (yes, it actually made the news over here on the Wet Coast), my first thought was similar to Voyager's: did Vancouver's violent Olympic protesters migrate to Montréal? If they did, please send them somewhere where they might actually have something real to protest.

When I think of police brutality, I NEVER think of Canada.

The logic for the demonstration would be like having your pets "fast" to demonstrate against animal cruelty. Whuuuh?

Furball - There are so many idiots out there.

Guillaume - Won't ever happen

DD - I think it probably does

Voyager - Unless it's something in the water?

Pink - They didn't have to, we have plenty of idiots here too.

Geewits - No. People don't do that... do they?

Ratty - Aren't you just a sweetheart!

I absolutely detest violent protest - it undermines the message, regardless of the message.

I know nothing of Canadian police, but are they absolutely free of any brutality? Because I'm not sure of being less brutal than other countries is always enough.

I don't think you are getting old, they are just getting or staying stupid...

SAW - I would imagine Canadian police aren't free of any brutality. No police force is, and as long as humans are human they never will be. But I think police brutality isn't as big a problem as these people would like us to think. And if (to quote a blog I read) there was no brutality whatsoever, these people would try to provoke some so they could have their annual brick throwing and store window breaking party.

e - That comment made me laugh.
