It's just wrong...

.

When you have a cold, and it's beginning to wind down and you catch another, nastier, one on top of the first.

When your nose and upper lip are so chapped from blowing your nose they actually crack and bleed.

When you figure you should just stay in bed and sleep but you know that there are a couple of rush jobs awaiting you at work that need to be done. Yesterday.

When you get up in the morning and it's -22 (-8F) and the windchill brings it down to about -30 (-22F)** and the weather guy says it's just going to get worse - with maximums of -24 in the next few days. I don't even want to convert that....

When you 're having a pity party and you forgot to invite anyone to commiserate.

God I annoy myself sometimes.

** How does that work? In Celsius there are only 8 degrees difference, in Fahrenheit there are 14. One of the great mysteries of our time. I do know the only place the two cross is at -40.

Poor you - I hope you get better soon.

Yes, I've never quite understood that Fahrenheit thing. I was brought up on Fahrenheit but it's totally illogical; I much prefer centigrade or Celsius or whatever it's called!

So sorry that you got two in a row..that totally sucks. And the cold weather just adds to the misery.

Poor little lamb; hope you feel better soon. I think my body temperature dropped a degree just reading about your weather. It's supposed to get down to 1 tomorrow here, but seems like that's a heatwave compared to your neck of the woods.

Thought I was divesting myself of cold #2 when I noticed the discernible signs of a sore throat last night...welcome #3.

...and 16C = 61F = my spring benchmark

I'm sorry! I guess it was a shock to your system being in the desert and then in the arctic air of home. Or maybe you should wash your hands more often.

I don't care what's going on at work -- stay home and deal with your health! #1 priority! You won't get better at work and you'll make everyone else sick and/or grossed out. Also, I think there's a rule somewhere that says we don't have to leave our homes when it goes below -20. I'll look it up.

You do sound a misery, honey.

It's -50 here with windchill today, so all the schools are closed. But not the college.

Damn.

Aw -- poor baby. Here's a big hug for you. Hope it passes quickly.

I'm catching up on your posts and I feel your pain -- I'm slumped in my chair, wondering why the hell I'm not curled up in bed. sneeze, cough, blah.

I loved Red Rock Canyon, and looking at your pictures made me long for the desert. And that glass sculpture in the Palm Springs museum.... well, I don't want to scare you, but...

I hope that links. It's called a siphonophore. creepycool!

Ahhh pauvre petite... don't you dare come and give it to me...
As for the Fahrenheit/centigrade thing it's very simple. In F water boils at 212 degrees and freezes at 32 so 212-32 = 180. So 180° F is equal to 100 C so each degree C is equal to 1.8 degrees F. Also do you know why the freezing point of H2O is 32 in F? It's because the guy who made the scale took the freezing point of salt water as his zero... ;o)

Geewits - I shoulda stayed in the desert.

XUP - Find that rule!!!!

Jocelyn - adults never get a day off. It's not fair

Ian - Hope the hug didn't pass the cold to you.

Kimber - the Siphoniphore... WOW, it does look like that sculpture.

Jeez, I'll think of this next August when I'm whining about two straight weeks of 100F. Nobody should have to go out it when it's -22.

P.S. I've heard good things about Puffs Aloe Vera tissues...
